Konkan Diva Fort

Overview:

Type:Hill Fort
Location:70 km from Pune in Maharashtra.
District:Raigad

This fort is on the boundary of Raigad and Pune district. It is located at the edge of the Kawlya ghat from where you can see the lit villages of Konkan. The two popular routes to the fort are a walk from the village of Ghol and a climb up the Kawlya ghat from the nearby Bawlya-Kawlya villages.

History:

The Konkan Diva Fort was built to guard any invasion through the Ghol village along the Mutha River. The Konkan Diva Fort was built as a watch tower for the capital city of Raigad.

Places to Visit on Fort:

The view from top was amazing. The landscape was refreshing & entirely different. There is a cave and a few rock-cut water cisterns on the fort to be seen. The quick downhill route take us to the entrance of the Ghol village.

How to reach:

The route from Konkan region is tough and the nearest town is Mahad which is 61 km from Mumbai. The base village of the fort is Sandoshi which is 32 km from Mahad. The trekking path passes through the kavlya ghat hillock north of the Sandoshi.

The second route starts from Village Gajarewadi which is near Ghol in Pune district. This route is very safe and wide.

Both the routes meet at a col on the northern side of the fort. The trek path is then steep and requires efforts to climb in rainy season.
